The Miniature Goldendoodle is a mixed breed resulted from the cross of the Golden Retriever and the toy, miniature or standard Poodle. It appeared in 1990 and it gained popularity due to its sweet characteristics.
Miniature Goldendoodle has different sizes depending on its parents. It has wavy or curly coat, longer hair on the tail, body, ears and legs. Its coat is black, copper, white, cream, gray, golden, apricot or red and doesn’t shed too much.
Miniature Goldendoodle is a joyful companion which is loyal, brave and obedient. Its traits depends a lot on their parents, training and socialization. It is curious, playful, gentle, affectionate, patient and above all, it loves to be in the company of its owner. These features make it perfect for family with children. It is friendly with children and is a good watchdog due to its agility inherited from the Golden Retriever. It has the tendency to become protective and acts fearless towards aggressors to protect its owner. Pay attention and do not let it alone for too long as it tends to suffer from separation anxiety.
Although it is sociable and gets along well with children and pets, it has to be early socialized to become a well-rounded dog. It has the tendency to develop an aggressive behavior if is not well educated. It is eager to learn new things and to please its master, but it needs reinforcement tactics like praise and rewards to be motivated. It listens the commands and learns fast due to its intelligence.
Mini Goldendoodle has to be exercised on a regular basis, so long walks and play sessions would be perfect to keep it healthy. It can adapt well to apartment living and does not need a yard.
You’ll have to brush it regularly and bath it occasionally. It needs daily teeth brushing to prevent gum disease and bad breathe. Nails trimming should be performed twice a month.
Mini Goldendoodle is energetic and playful and needs to be exercised on a regular basis as it has a medium energy level. It tends to bark at visitors and has a protective behavior.
Feed you puppy several times a day with small amounts of quality food. It is prone to gastric torsion or bloat.
Generally, the Mini Goldendoodle is a healthy breed. It can develop ear infections, patellar luxation, hip dysplasia or different types of allergies.
