Color Change

December 27, 2012, 7:32 PM
Q: When I got my pup he was Black, he is six months old now and now has a brown face but the rest of him turned as if he was getting old, he has gray roots as if he had a color job done looked funny cause he changed to have a white patch straight down his back. He looks like a skunk. lol do they realy change that much? looks like a different dog.
A: The gray or as a lot of breeders call it silver undertones to the hair are actually one of the traits of Yorkies that most people find desirable. At any rate certainly unique color patterns are what help your puppy to be distinctive. Final coat color distribution is sometimes not achieved until 2-3 years of age. These color changes are normal and do not indicate any underlying problem.
